July 4th in Colorado Springs

We heard that the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs puts on a killer July 4th firework show. We bought some chairs and went for some good fun. It was fun at first they had lots of booths and games. The only problem was the rain. It rained and rained and rained. We sat in a lightning storm waiting for the firework show to maybe start. They would not just call it off. So we could not leave. We had to wait and wait and wait...freezing cold and miserable we sat and waited. Finally, it starts! Can I just say, I have never seen anything like it. The fireworks were awesome, but what made it so incredibly cool was the lightning that would strike just behind the fireworks. Amazing to see.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

This was the kick-off to our summer vacation 2010. We were going to meet up with the Dozier family in Paggosa Springs and we decided to take a few days to have a little vacation with just the kids. We got a hotel in Colorado Springs and had some fun there.

This zoo was beautiful. The giraffe's were the best part. You could get right up to them and feed them. The giraffe would grab the little cookie with their huge tongue. It was fun.
